Shuri Castle, known as a symbol of Okinawa, flourished as the center of politics, culture, and diplomacy for the Ryukyu Kingdom. It has a history of being rebuilt repeatedly after being struck by numerous fires. Although the main hall was destroyed in the 2019 fire, reconstruction is currently underway, and you can even observe the process. The castle grounds feature facilities that display artworks from the Ryukyu Kingdom era and beautiful gardens where you can enjoy the scenery. The entire Shuri Castle Park is registered as a World Heritage site, making it a valuable place to feel the depth of Okinawan history and culture.
